Role Objective

The Regional Manager will help us manage the Change Please service model in Denver! We have a proven blueprint and a model that works; by continuing to operate our award-winning program model in Denver, we will ensure that our neighbors who are homeless and with barriers to work will have an opportunity to change their lives, no longer looking in from the fringes of society but back inside with work, a home, and a sense of pride.  

 

This role will oversee the smooth running of assigned sites/locations, ensuring perfect coffee quality, outstanding customer service, seamless operational running, managing and training all team members. The role will also be responsible for leading the delivery, management, and continuous improvement of the barista training portion of the program. 

 

Location

This role will be based in Denver with occasional travel. Additional travel in the broader US may be required, periodically.  

 

Reporting

The role will report to our National Manager with regular contact and interaction with all members of the Change Please programming and impact, retail and wholesale teams. 

 

Responsibilities

Program:

  • To forge and foster relationships with a variety of referral partners, including non-profits and local government agencies. These relationships will encourage case workers/work coaches to refer their beneficiaries to our service and training program.   

  • To fully support the trainee journey; our traditional model is 3 weeks of intense training, followed by as needed Onward Employment engagement.  

  • Some of the trainees will be more vulnerable with external factors potentially impacting their performance while training. You will assist with identifying obstacles and potential solutions, leveraging the trainee’s and our service provider networks.  

  • To deliver and/or curate the presentation of workshops, including resume writing, presentation skills, preparing for interview and arranging mock interviews.  

  • To visit our employment partners and seek out job opportunities for graduate trainees.  This could be paid work experience, internships, or permanent jobs with an emphasis on and preference for fulltime, living wage employment. 

  • Actively seek and support opportunities to grow Change Please commercial coffee presence in the region. 

 

Retail Operations:

  • Oversee daily operations of the retail store, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. 

  • Manage inventory, including ordering, stocking, and conducting regular audits. 

  • Implement and maintain visual merchandising standards to enhance the store’s appearance and maximize sales. 

  • Analyse sales data to identify trends, forecast future sales, and develop strategies to meet sales targets. 

  • Lead support in new store openings. 

  • Oversee and approve the purchases of equipment, implement health and safety standards and policies in accordance with local health departments. 

  • Develop menu/recipe in coordination with other retail sites. 

 

Training and Development:

  • Oversee a comprehensive training program for new hires and program trainees. 

  • Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to ensure all staff are knowledgeable about products, services, and company policies. 

  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment. 

  • Evaluate staff and trainee performance and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement. 

  • Run the Barista Training portion of the program, training trainees in coffee knowledge, espresso production, milk steaming, and more. 

  • Be the first point of contact for employee absence, arranging cover where applicable 

  • Help raise awareness and educate employment partners, providing them with support to ensure a trainee does not lose their job without meaningful engagement and troubleshooting. 

 

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Experience in employment services support including job skills training, job seeking, and job placement for untraditional populations. 

  • Experience in cafe management and coffee production. 

  • A Team Player. Whether within the Program team, the broader Change Please team or engaging with other internal and external stakeholders. We need someone who will work positively with everyone.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $90,000 annual salary

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, such as attendance at training sessions, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to taste or smell.
